Nevada, formations in Cathedral Gorge State Park, Black and White, #dt295
Erosion has carved unique patterns in this relatively soft bentonite clay. It’s a Pliocene era lakebed and centuries of water and wind has resulted in these geological formations. The patterns and forms make great subject matter for the artist and also the place is just simply fun to explore. The careful observer notices how the shapes take on different character as the light changes during the day. There are also some narrow slot canyon like areas that are great for observing the textures in the clay and they can be a good place to work on some interesting images. |
