Idaho, central, thunder shower and lightning over Railroad ridge

I love the color of these clouds and the flash of lightning made for the perfect composition. I knew I had captured it as I held the shutter open for a few seconds and the flash occurred. In the art of landscape photography, it's common to hold the shutter open on a tripod mounted camera for extended periods of time. It was one of those extremely rare instances when everything came together and made all of the decades of hard work worth it. I almost didn’t make it to this mountain ridge due to very rough weather but somehow I knew I had to and I’m glad I did.
